Technical Team Lead

We are hiring a Software Development Manager to join and lead our dynamic team of software engineers to deliver solutions in line with business needs making use of a state-of-the-art technology stack. As a Software Development Manager your main responsibility is to the people you support; ensuring that they are growing as engineers, delivering value to the business and in general having a great time. This role will provide you with the opportunity to influence our team culture, partnering to drive our product strategy and creating an environment that continuously improves.


Minimum education (essential)
  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
Minimum education (desirable)
  • Degree/National Diploma in Information Technology or BSC
Minimum applicable experience (years)
  • 5+ years of experience in an IT environment (across IT disciplines)
  • 3+ years of team lead experience
  • 3+ years of experience in agile delivery
  • 3+ years hands-on experience in core programming languages
Required nature of experience
  • Java

Technical Delivery 80%
  • Participate in agile engineering practices and give guidance in various software development technologies to rapidly develop creative and efficient solutions that enhance customer, business partners and employee experience.
  • Has a range of responsibilities from shaping, implementing and leading delivery of strategic solutions ensuring that the end user stays on the leading edge of technology.
  • Encourage team members to craft clear user stories, design tests for prototypes and solutions, and continuously deliver product enhancements.
  • Managing all the activities of the software development team and set goals for each team member to ensure timely delivery
Leading the Development Team 10%
  • Leading the development team of front-end developers and back-end developers in the design, development, coding and testing of the application
  • Provide guidance to the team and ensure they adhere to development standards and up to speed with tech
  • Ensure the team are up to speed with the latest tech and best practices before they are assigned to tasks
  • Conduct code reviews prior to deployment to environments
  • Overall engagement and management of tasks assigned to the solution architect, infrastructure, and quality assurance teams
Research and Business Delivery 10%
  • Keep up to date with the latest software development trends
  • Solves technical issues
  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to complex issues
  • Work closely with product owner and team members to identify and socialise product and delivery risks
  • Ensure that the solution complies with organisational standards and policies
  • Deliver business value as per customer expectations
  • Deliver within business expected timeframes
  • Deliver sustainable business solutions without causing system instability
  • Communicate timeously and accurately to stakeholders
