About the role

To oversee and manage a sales team, ensuring the achievement of sales targets and the delivery of exceptional customer service, both pre- and post-sale. This role holds overall responsibility for meeting team sales goals and strategic objectives, including partnerships (e.g., OUTsurance, Netstar) and social media reviews. Additionally, the Sales Manager is responsible for recruiting, staffing, and training the sales team to ensure optimal performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sales & Customer Management
    • Track and manage sales performance against targets, implementing corrective actions where necessary
    • Ensure all sales executives consistently achieve sales, finance, and ancillary product targets.
    • Manage and optimize lead management processes, ensuring leads are actioned and converted within SLAs
    • Oversee vehicle reconditioning costs and ensure after-sales care meets service levels
    • Handle escalated customer complaints promptly and professionally to protect the brand reputation
  • Housekeeping & Inventory Control
    • Manage floor layout, vehicle presentation, price cards, and vehicle cleanliness to agreed standards
    • Conduct daily price card checks and weekly price evaluations for stock optimization
    • Manage aging stock and reserved vehicles, ensuring compliance with business rules and SLA timelines
    • Ensure vehicles on promotional auction are presented in line with company guidelines
  • Team Leadership & HR Management
    • Create and manage monthly staff rosters to ensure adequate coverage during peak trading hours
    • Conduct daily sales meetings and weekly performance reviews with teams to align on targets
    • Hold bi-weekly one-on-one sessions with sales executives to discuss performance, growth, and improvement areas
    • Manage bottom performers through structured improvement plans (e.g., Project Excellence)
    • Oversee leave planning and approve sales commission sheets before payroll deadlines
  • Sales Training & Development
    • Provide ongoing mentorship to sales teams for personal and professional growth
    • Deliver at least one structured training session per month covering customer service, sales skills, complaint handling, and lead management
    • Conduct weekly on-the-floor coaching to reinforce best practices in the sales process.
    • Evaluate training effectiveness through learner feedback and performance tracking
  • Operational & Compliance Management
    • Oversee branch inventory in line with SOPs, ensuring stock accuracy and quick action on flagged vehicles
    • Manage outstanding payments, sold yard operations, and adoption of alternative payment methods
    • Ensure branch compliance with health, safety, and operational guidelines
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure consistent operational excellence across the branch
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
    • Sales and ancillary product target achievement.
    • Sales team headcount and performance within agreed parameters
    • Lead management effectiveness and conversion rates
    • Stock turnover and non-selling vehicle management
    • Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and timely complaint resolution
    • Online auction and after-sales service quality

Job Requirements

  • High education in business related field advantageous
  • 2 – 3 years managerial experience with at least 10 direct reports
